It was a profitable day 1 at the Australian Open for followers of our tennis tips with all three suggested bets winning, giving punters a nice bank to work with for the rest of the week. We have found three roughies this time for day 2 in Melbourne Park where the bookies look to have got it wrong so hopefully we can keep the profits coming in for followers.
F Verdasco +4.5 @ $1.90
With a terrific head to head record against his fellow Spaniard, Verdasco looks to represent good value at the +4.5 games line. Verdasco has won all three previous matches against Bautista Agut and even though his form to start 2018 hasn't been that strong he finished 2017 with good performances in both Stockholm and Paris.
Bautista Agut looked good in winning in Auckland recently, but the field there wasn't overly strong and he has struggled against left handers in the past. Im expecting a close fought game here and the Verdasco line or even the total score overs looks to be the best play.
R Berankis @ $2.50
Stan Wawrinka looks the best player to fade in betting on day 2 of the Australian Open. Suffering from a knee injury, we haven't seen Wawrinka on the court since his first round defeat at Wimbledon last year. He has already had to pull out of Abu Dhabi because he hadn't fully recovered from his knee surgery and we have heard this week that he is still feeling pain in his knee. Add to that a slight shoulder concern that has also flared up this year and it is hard to give the wounded Swiss much hope on his return.
Berankis has hardly set the world on fire lately either with a second round loss in Sydney after an average end to 2017 on the Challenger circuit, but this bet is more about fading Wawrinka and with the possibility of a retirement should he fall behind early make sure to place your bet at a bookmaker that pays out on the result regardless so long as the 1st set is complete
O Dodin +4.5 @ $1.76
The bookmakers look to have gotten this market wrong and on current form you could not rate Bouchard a 4.5 point favourite. The one time world #5 has fallen to #112 in the world after a disastrous 2017 where she was knocked out in the first round of 14 tournaments. Since the French Open last year she has a record of just 2-14 and has struggled to recapture any sort of form that saw her announce herself as one of the best young talents just a couple of years ago. With straight sets losses in all of her matches this year as well it is hard to see why the bookies have her so short.
Dodin is no star by any means but currently ranked higher than Bouchard and with glimpses of good form last year including making the semi finals in Washington, she represents value st the +4.5 line and is even a good chance head to head at odds.
